Just around the corner Honour Avenue attracts hundreds of visitors during the autumn to see the magnificent Pin Oaks which line the street. A short drive takes you to many Hilltop Stations and Open Gardens on Mt Macedon.

  • Situated in the heart of Mount Macedon Township is one of Australia's most unique nurseries, Dicksonia Rare Plants, owned by Stephen Ryan.

 

  • Directly opposite Dicksonia Kathy runs a gorgeous little nursery specialising in cool region plants called Florilegia Nursery.

 

  • Hanging Rock: a rare volcanic formation located nearby and venue for the Harvest Picnic, Hanging Rock Cup & Races.  It provides the perfect backdrop for international concerts like Rod Stewart and The Eagles, and is home to a wide variety of native flora and fauna.

  • Memorial Cross: This 21 mt high structure commemorates those who served in the world wars and offers outstanding views of the surrounding countryside.

  • The Macedon Cemetary has a facinating history and worth a visit.

    Ellis Rowan who was a well known Australian botanical illustrator and avid traveller from 1869 to 1919, sought fame through her depictions of exotic and unusual botanical specimens, lies here under another smaller but still impressive cross.

 

  • Piper Street Kyneton, famous for its fashion, food and art is a short trip away.

 

  • Excellent local markets are to be found most weekends in the surrounding towns of Gisborne,Woodend, Lancefield, Riddells Creek and Romsey.
